The National Forest

The transformative power of trees is the inspiration for a new tourism strategy for the National Forest.

The National Forest is a really special place to be working in. It’s a place that is a showcase of hope in tackling climate change. A former mining and industrial landscape that has been transformed through the creation of new forest and natural habitats. As part of its 30 year journey from ‘black to green’, tree cover has grown from 6% of land area to 22%.

We are delighted to be working with the National Forest Company, local authorities, DMOs, businesses and communities to develop a new ambitious tourism strategy. It will be a shared plan which is centred around the transformative power of trees to create a destination which is truly sustainable.

Like the National Forest, the new plan will be inspirational. Stakeholders and communities working together will underpin the successful development, management and marketing of this place. And visitors will, in time, experience a destination that inspires them to act in ways which have positive outcomes that linger long after their visit.
