At the end of another busy Blue Sailing year we’re looking back over 12 months of projects. Here are just a few …
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside – and this year our work has taken us from the coastal city of Caernafon to bijou Dickensian Broadstairs, from the far-flung Isles of Scilly to the coasts of Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset, and from the dunes and cliffs of North East Scotland to … well … the dunes and cliffs of Northern France.
Living history – more and more places are realising the tourism value of their cultural heritage and this year we’ve worked with the ceramics of Stoke on Trent, the mechanics of the Anderton Boat Lift, the stories of Waterways Ireland, and the layers of history along the brand-new Waterford Greenway.
Stories for places – we’ve continued to develop our stories approach this year, working with the tourism industry of Aberdeenshire to uncover the narratives of this relatively undiscovered place, and with stakeholders right across Ireland’s Ancient East on the Republic’s ground-breaking heritage destination focused on stories and storytelling.
Great towns – we’ve worked with dozens of towns and cities in 2016 but perhaps the standout experience was when Michele led the assessors for the Academy of Urbanism’s Great Town Award, which – after a summer of fact-finding visits – went to Clonakilty in West Cork, birthplace of Michael Collins.
We’ve had a lovely year working on these and many other interesting projects, and we’re grateful to our clients and business friends for your commissions and recommendations.
Like many companies, we now give to charity instead of doing corporate Christmas cards. This year our Christmas charity is the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund .
