Talking to families

Dad on beach holiday with children

There seems to be a resurgence in interest in encouraging families to take a holiday in England. The continuing staycation phenomenon encouraged by volcanic ash clouds mean that many destinations are developing campaigns targeting families. We admire the work of East Midlands Tourism in helping their businesses be child friendly with their online interactive guide. And Frommer’s have recently produced a guide to holidaying in England written by a family travelling around the country. It certainly seems to be true that families tend to plan more and are less likely to take risks – and so particularly value relevant information and advice.

We are less sure about the video Frommer’s have produced to promote their guide on YouTube:

Any recommendations on good practice in destination marketing to families?
