Marathon man

Brighton was bursting with pride this weekend with its first full-length Marathon. Nearly 10,000 runners took to the streets today – among them Adam Bates, who heads up VisitBrighton and the city’s conference venues. Adam and his team have been working hard to make the most of the Marathon in terms of publicity … and they ran an accommodation booking service for the thousands who poured into the city to take part in or witness the event.

The Marathon was expected to bring at least £3 million into the local economy – and those publicity shots of the sun-drenched seafront and happy crowds should be worth their weight in gold. It’s a great spring addition to the city’s already packed events calendar.
