Fort Bovisand to transform into a visitor attraction

Delighted to hear that Heritage Lottery Funding has been awarded to Plymouth’s derelict Fort Bovisand to further develop its £16m plans to transform the scheduled ancient monument into a visitor attraction. Blue Sail, working with Headland Design, Field Archaeology Services and Houseman Henderson Architects, have secured £352,000 development funding for the Fort Bovisand Trust. Owned by Greg Dyke, the former Director General of the BBC, the fort has been a defence feature since Tudor times and played a part in World War I. Development plans include site renovations, visitors’ interpretation centre, café and learning facilities.
